Robert D. Sanders
Robert D. Sanders has over thirty one years experience in corporate security at Bank of America.  Prior to his employment with Bank of America, he was with the Texas Department of Public Safety for nine years.

Mr. Sanders was the Director of Security for the Texas franchise of Bank of America and was responsible for the total security program until late 1995.  His sizable staff included security professionals who were located in all the major markets of Texas and the Southwest.

In August of 1995, Security became a corporate-wide department.  Mr. Sanders was subsequently reassigned to Charlotte, NC and was appointed Protective Services Executive.  This new responsibility included: the management and leadership of approximately 75 proprietary, senior level security professionals; the coast-to-coast protection of all banking centers, bank employees, office buildings, ATMs, operations centers and many other critical functions; and providing leadership and management oversight during development and ongoing evaluation of security programs and processes.  He also provided leadership and management oversight during the transition of security programs following numerous large acquisitions of other banks.

Mr. Sanders possesses strong core competencies, job knowledge and skill sets.  They include strong interpersonal skills; the ability to listen and to ascertain and understand the needs and expectations of his clients; team building; coaching mentoring; building partnerships; problem solving, planning, project management and analytical skills.

He is also knowledgeable in security systems, technology and methodology; training programs; finance planning; contract review; appropriate security guard usage; security equipment standards and policy and procedure.

Mr. Sanders has experience and expertise in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements including The Bank Protection Act and the Gramm, Leach, Bliley Act as it relates to the physical protection of customer information.  His experience also includes the development of physical security programs designed to reduce exposure to civil litigation.

Utilizing his core competencies, Mr. Sanders provided leadership in developing a consistent, enterprise-wide physical security protection program by cultivating a collaborative approach that included the participation of senior-level Security Managers and internal business partners.  These business partners included senior-level managers from Information Technology, IT Security, Retail/Consumer Banking, Investment Banking, Real Estate, Audit, Legal, Public Relations, ATM services, Security Integrators and other service providers and members of Law Enforcement.

This collaborative, enterprise-wide approach to the development and management of protective services for the corporation helped to establish an environment of credibility, trust, consistency and “user” buy-in through their participation in process development. The enterprise-wide approach also helped to: identify and reduce exposure to risks; provide consistency in the management of security incidents; and help ensure effectiveness and cost efficiency.  

The enterprise-wide approach promoted by Mr. Sanders led to several major accomplishments.  They include:

• A successful Bank Robbery Reduction Program with over sixty percent reduction of robbery incidents in the test areas
• A Security Guard Program resulting in corporate-wide consistency and millions of dollars in savings
• An Enhanced Security Program for all corporate facilities including consistency in protection levels
• Consolidation of alarm systems management including monitoring and response
• A corporate-wide employee identification card system for all employees
• Mail room security enhancement processes at all major mail processing sites
• The consolidation of coast-to-coast card access control
• A security and safety program for ATMs and Night Depositories resulting in enhanced customer safety and an extreme reduction of exposure to civil litigation
• Standardization of security and safety procedures manuals; and equipment standards and policies

Mr. Sanders’ personal goal of credibility is consistent with the overall goal of RDS Security Consulting, LLC of building relationships based on trust and friendship.  With these goals always in mind, he utilizes his experience and expertise to work with clients in adding value to their company by helping them provide a safer and more secure environment for their employees and customers.
